The short version: Growing Up Financially collects minimal data, uses no user accounts, and does not store your calculator inputs on any server. Your financial numbers stay in your browser.

A note about financial calculators

Your inputs — salary, savings amounts, age, state of residence — are processed entirely in your browser and stored only in the URL hash (the part after the # symbol), which lives on your device. We do not transmit these values to any server. We cannot see them. If you copy and share a URL containing calculator state, the person you share with will see your inputs.

Third-party services (Cloudflare Web Analytics, Google AdSense, Google Fonts) may record that you visited a page but do not see the numbers you typed into calculators. The URL hash is not sent to servers in HTTP requests.

What we collect directly

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which is privacy-preserving, cookie-free, and aggregates visit counts and referrer data without identifying individual users. We do not set cookies of our own.

Advertising and third-party services

We currently use Google AdSense to serve advertisements on Growing Up Financially. As the site grows, we may transition to or add Mediavine as an additional ad management partner. This privacy policy covers both services.

Google AdSense may use cookies for ad personalization and measurement. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google’s Ad Settings. More about how Google uses data: Google’s partner-sites policy.

Mediavine (if/when activated) serves advertisements through a network of advertising partners. These partners may use cookies and similar technologies to collect information about your visits to Growing Up Financially and other websites, in order to serve you with advertisements that are more relevant to your interests. Mediavine works with demand-side platforms (DSPs), supply-side platforms (SSPs), direct advertisers, and analytics providers.

The specific data collected by advertising partners may include: your IP address, browser type, operating system, and device information, pages you visit on this site and other sites, referring website, approximate time of your visits and interactions with ads, and unique identifiers stored in cookies. This data is used for ad selection, performance measurement, audience segmentation, and limited personalization. We do not share information you provide directly to us (such as email addresses) with any advertising partner.

Other third-party services

1. Google Fonts — serves Fraunces and Inter. Google may log IP addresses for font delivery analytics.
2. Cloudflare — hosting, CDN, and DDoS protection. Cloudflare privacy policy.

Cookies

Growing Up Financially itself does not set first-party cookies. The following cookies may be set by third-party services:

Advertising cookies (set by AdSense, Mediavine, and their partners): used to deliver relevant advertisements, prevent the same ad from being shown repeatedly, measure the effectiveness of ad campaigns, and track aggregate user interactions with ads. Typical retention: 30 days to 13 months, depending on the specific cookie and partner.

Analytics cookies (set by Google Analytics): used to measure how visitors use this site. Information is aggregated and anonymized. Typical retention: 2 years from last interaction.

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Note that blocking all cookies may affect site functionality.

Contact requests

If you email us via the Contact page, your email and any information you provide will be used only to respond to your inquiry and will not be added to any marketing list.

Your choices and controls

You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting the Digital Advertising Alliance’s opt-out page or the Network Advertising Initiative’s opt-out page.

For users in the EU, UK, or other GDPR regions: Growing Up Financially through Mediavine honors Transparency and Consent Framework (TCF) signals. You will be presented with a consent management platform on your first visit where you can grant or deny consent for various categories of data processing.

For California residents: Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), you have the right to opt out of the sale of your personal information. Mediavine provides an opt-out mechanism through the “Do Not Sell My Personal Information” link in ad units, or by visiting mediavine.com/do-not-sell.

Your rights

Because we collect no account data and do not store calculator inputs, most requests will be short: we do not have identifiable data about you to provide, correct, or delete.
